KO SAMAESAN

Samaesan

Usually not frequented by dive boats, the western side of Ko Samaesan is an interesting ground for exploration on days when it is too windy on the eastern side for the dive boat to return to the pier. There is a lush reef between the main island and the smaller eastern rock formation with whip coral colonies, nudibranchs and – to our surprise – Masked Rabbitfish.

However it pays to just explore the sandy bottom of the ocean in a deliberate sand dive and keep one’s eyes open. This gallery is the result of a dive away from the hard corals to reveal all the other gems which are usually neglected too easily.
