TORINLA PINNACLE
Surin Islands National Park
Torinla is a small island located south of Ko Surin Tai and the Pinnacle is just a small distance further down south. It is an underwater extension of the island which emerges once more but does not penetrate the surface. Large boulders characterize the dive site but a abundance of smaller boulder clusters are evidence that the area must have been subject to movement a long time ago.
Although not as spectacular as some of the other pinnacles in the Similans (like Tachai or Richelieu), Torinla is a great place to study some of the character fishes of the region – the protective and slightly aggressive Mustache (or Titan) Triggerfish, Giant Morays and the fascinating Porcelain Crab which finds its home in some of the anemones around.
